This afternoon we went down to Bennion Beach in Trigg for a picnic at the dog beach. Gary came along, of course, and spent most of the time fetching his ball, alternating with barking until we threw it. That’s all in a day’s work for a terrier!

Here are some photos from our day. Some taken by me, others taken by Tony.

As a kid I never really dressed up for Halloween. As I live in Australia, it isn’t something that’s part of our cultural heritage. At tae kwon do camp, we had a Halloween night where we went around to all the other rooms in costume, but it was at the beginning of October so it was more of a ‘dress up night’. I actually won this one year by dressing up as a ‘witchdoctor’ when I was about 12 – culturally sensitive much? Other costumes included witch and vampire, so it wasn’t all bad. Today I feel like an art teacher. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Dress by Yours Clothing
Handpainted jacket – vintage
Cardi over the top by Target
Scarf by Morgan Marks
Agate necklace by me
Flatforms by Therapy Shoes
PVC inset leggings by City Chic

A lot of outfits I wear are pretty costumey. I prefer it that way; I try never to wear the same outfit twice, and everything can tell a story.

I was compiling a few things that I’ve had my eye on recently, and I noticed that they basically amount to a bush-bashing-type lady’s outfit. Maybe it’s because of my recent dinner at Lava Stonegrill, (which has had some poor reviews but was quite good), featuring, among other things, wild boar and kangaroo?

So I guess, here are some explorer-themed bits and pieces from around the net!

Here’s a few things I’ve bookmarked this week. I got my tax return in record turn-around time (8 days!) but can’t spend most of it, so I’m torturing myself by browsing online. I did buy a couple of things from the Yours Clothing sale recently but they haven’t turned up just yet. Read the rest of this entry »

This is what I wore last night to a friend’s house to play Liar Dice (which is great fun but I’m quite bad at it). Also I will write a bit about why exactly I’m blogging again. There are photos of cats as well (result!).

Op Shop Finds

I was finally able to ask Joss to take some photos of me without getting all self-conscious. I might do it more often now.

This is an outfit that I think worked, except during the short walk down St Georges Terrace – it’s always windy and I was clutching desperately at the skirt for most of the walk.

Jacket from Chicstar via op shop
Purple wrap shrug thing from a cheapo import store
Black scoopneck top from ASOS
The perfect skirt with pockets from Crossroads
Black stockings from Razzamatazz Curvaceous via Woolies
Scarf from Morgan Marks
Beads from op shop
Oxfords from Betts

Just a few quick outfit photos before I forget to post them.

I started a new job a few weeks ago, which is turning out quite well. The work itself is fairly mindless, but it is nowhere near as stressful as my old call-centre job. By the end of it, I was dreading going to work at that place every day, so this makes a nice change.

After a year or so of trying to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe, I’m falling back into the ‘all black’ world. Once a goth, always a goth! Even so, there are some colourful pieces that I still like to wear, and the accent jewellery is getting a work-out too.
