This is a brooch that I made on the weekend. I bought some leather scraps from the craft store, and had to get a utility knife thing as well. I had a needle that can punch through the leather, but the round stabbing interchangeable head was much better… Obviously.
The edges are burnt, which makes them curl up like that. I love the effect. I saw somebody making something like this on Etsy, and wanted to try it out. I think I’m going to explore the burning thing a little more, and see what it does to points, whether I can make a snow-drop style something with the cream leather, and so on.
I’m really enjoying the jewellery-making I’ve been doing lately. It’s very rewarding. And may even become financially rewarding, as my family are very supportive and (compulsorily?) impressed.
Here are a few pieces of jewellery I’ve made in the last few days, mostly as Christmas presents.
